BirkDale Medicinals is proud to bear the Medicinal Mushroom Review Seal of Quality. 

In order to receive the distinctive MMR Seal, medicinal mushroom products must meet objective ingredient criteria.

MMR gives unbiased opinions based on the actual supplement label, rather than product positioning or misleading guarantees and claims. The supplement facts label must be truthful and accurate, and is a strong indicator of the product and manufacturer’s general compliance with FDA standards and regulations.

In order to qualify as a distinguished MMR approved product, the following minimum requirements must be met:

1. Contains extracted ingredients by a preferred extraction method
2. Contains mushroom sourced beta-glucans
3. Percentages of therapeutic compounds are evident
4. Contains low/zero indigestible content or fillers

These requirements are based on medicinal mushroom research. The therapeutic effects of medicinal mushrooms are well documented historically and in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Similarly, independent scientific studies have been conducted to further enhance our understanding of how medicinal mushrooms can be used. To date, all valid research is specific to the therapeutic benefits of extracted mushroom compounds.

We have looked for independent scientific or TCM references to support the use of un-extracted products but were unable to find any. Our approval requirements will remain consistent with current and relevant research supporting therapeutically effective medicinal mushroom formulations.
